Celebrities 'Saddle Up' to Raise Money for Local Charities At The Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show

William Shatner Will Host the 10th Annual Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show to Benefit Local Charities Within the Los Angeles Community

LOS ANGELES, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrities and horse lovers of all ages will gather at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on Saturday, April 29 for the 10th Annual Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show, hosted by actor William Shatner. Proceeds from this event will benefit LA's BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow), the nationally recognized after-school enrichment program, as well as Ahead with Horses therapeutic riding organization and Children's Museum of Los Angeles.

Among this year's attendees are stars from television's ``Star Trek,'' ``Star Trek Voyager,'' ``Babylon 5,'' and ``SeaQuest'' as well as Jeff Conaway, Terry Farrell, Clint Howard, Lesley Ann Warren and Lance Henriksen.

``I am so pleased to see this event take place for its tenth consecutive year,'' said William Shatner. ``The Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show will provide over 3000 people -- including over 2000 LA's BEST kids -- with an opportunity to have fun, while demonstrating the public's admirable commitment to supporting important Los Angeles-based charities.''

The event will include a picnic, magic show, petting zoo, arts and crafts and special performances featuring veteran Hollywood trick horseman Tad Griffith, the Jones Benally & Family Indian Dance Troupe, a 1992 Olympic equestrian medallist, a cast of western actors and a herd of livestock! Once the dust settles, the Cowboy Palace Saloon will spice things up by sponsoring a Western-style BBQ party, featuring a live performance by The Lovesick Prairie Dogs. The U.S. Equestrian team will hold its qualifying class for the 2000 Summer Olympics Games at 8:00 p.m.

``It brings us great pride to work on this prestigious event alongside Mr. Shatner and fellow community programs once again,'' said Carla Sanger, President and CEO of LA's BEST. ``Building on the success of The Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show in past years, we have worked extremely hard this year to provide added surprises as a way to thank everyone for coming out to support this effort.''

For the past ten years, William Shatner has spearheaded The Cosequin Hollywood Charity Horse Show featuring some of the best western reining riders in the country while simultaneously raising money for charity. This year's sponsors include Cosequin (subsidiary of Nutramax Labs, Inc.), Wells Fargo Bank, Gateway Cablevision, Priceline.com, See's Candies, Pier 1 Imports and Showtime Networks, Inc.

LA's BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow) was established in 1988 to provide a safe and supervised after school education, enrichment and recreation program for children ages 5 to 12 in high-risk areas of the City of Los Angeles. This unique, nationally recognized program provides a balance of homework assistance and academic support with fun enrichment activities -- all at no cost to parents. LA's BEST serves over 12,000 children at 69 school sites in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Tickets are available through the Los Angeles Equestrian center Box Office at (818) 840-9066 or by visiting www.horseshow.org.
